Taking matters into my own hands..

The leather jacket. Everyone wants it, it goes with everything and it gives every outfit a cool and tough look. And like things that are beautiful and versatile, you will never find the right one when you're looking for it. And oh, have I been looking for it.. for the last 3 years to be exact! But all I could find were "so so" jackets, faux leather jackets (they will never wear and smell as nice as a real leather one) and when I found the perfect one - it was just to damn expensive.

Then there are the jackets from Sabrina, which are all so amazing!

And then there is ASOS, when I have been tempted more than once to buy a jacket..

So before I loose my mind and spend a fortune on the perfect leather jacket, I've decided to try and make one myself! I have been experimenting with working with leather (already made 2 bags and some accessories which I will show soon) and I have the "courage" to try and customize/make/upgrade one myself..

Making a jacket from scratch and sewing the leather by hand (which I will have to do) I hard enough so I found this second-hand leather blazer for a stunning €10. And then I will buy some large leather fabrics, studs and zippers to complete it.
I will keep updating during the process, cause I think it's going to take a while perfecting. But hey, at least I have something to do.. ;)

DIY PROJECT: Pop your collar

The new trend of extreme necklaces and neck 'candy' has given me a LOT of DIY inspiration. There are some great examples circulating of extreme neck jewelry or separate collars.

I found these beautiful detachable collars from Eleven Objects at Leandra's Manrepeller blog (my favorite and she's funny too!)

I also found this amazing silver MR. DANNIJO collar/necklace via Fashiolista. A collaboration between the above fashion blogger and Danielle and Jodie Snyder (founders) of DANNIJO.



After this I tried my hand at making a leather version of the collars above but it didn't turn out that great because I didn't use thick leather. But who knows, maybe it will come in handy sometime..

Next I tried something much easier and something that (almost) cannot go wrong! Simply find an old jeans shirt, it doesn't even matter if the shirt is too big for you - the collar must fit your neck. Simply unfix the seam that attaches the collar to the shirt, pin the seam with and sew it close with the same colour thread.

This is the most easy way to make a collar because most of the collars already have a little button to hold it together. You can do it with any jacket, blouse or shirt - that you are bored off - and even recycle the shirt to be a new 'collar-less' wardrobe piece. You can also try to 'spice' things up by adding spikes, gemstones or studs to the ends of the collar.

Clothing and accessoires are not the only things you can DIY.. 

If you have some time to spare, try out some fun nail-art! And I don't mean the long trampy nails, but the cute, short and funny nails!! I just did mine by looking into my huge nailpolish collection, some small paintbrushes to make lines and some weird embossing pen I found lying around (works great!)

I got my inspiration through the awesome website of London's WAH NAILS nails salon and Deniz from Emerald Sparkled! Check out their 'outspoken' and artsy nails..
